Today we planted our sunflowers in our Butterfly Garden. We hope that it will be sunny enough that they will grow tall and strong.

Jack's beanstalk

We have been listening and acting out stories. We really loved Jack and the Beanstalk so we planted our own beans from seeds that Mrs Hepburn had collected from last years bean crop in the school garden. Only 2 didn't grow, so we will plant some new ones for those children and see who's grows fastest. Today we compared who had the tallest, shortest. Even though they were all planted on the same day, they all grew differently, just like the children in Room 2.We have taken them home to grow in our gardens.

"Have a go"athletics day. November 6th 2015

We had a lovely day at school while the older children were at the rural athletics. Lots of parents came to watch ups, run, jump and throw. Here are some photos of us doing the long jump and the high jump.

Fun with Dr Seuss

We had lots of fun last week doing maths activities with Dr Seuss to celebrate his birthday. We made a big stack of turtles like in "Yertle the Turtle" and used ordinal numbers from first through to 12th. We played lots of games with fish to go with the book "1 fish, 2 fish, red fish, blue fish" and we made numbers books, poem booklets and compared how many letters ( apples) are in our names after reading "10 apples up on top."

Clubs

What a wonderful time we have had over the last 3 weeks at clubs. It has been exciting seeing what everybody has been doing. Most of us did crafts but Heath went to Junior Science and came back and told us all about the fun he had making a volcano, and goo! as well as other fun things. The rest of Room 2 either made cards or paper bag puppets.Thank you to the teachers for their great ideas and to the parents who helped us.

We are very sad to be saying goodbye to Mrs Boyce. We will really miss all her help and encouragement. We hope she enjoys her new job and remembers to come and visit. Mrs Paterson will especially miss your smile, laugh, support and friendship.
