While we were at the stadium Mrs Paterson set up a special Holiday Challenge for us so we can keep being great readers. We have a bag of books and sentence cards to enjoy over the holidays.
When we complete the challenge we will get a special surprise.

Today Mrs Paterson didn't come to Fundamental skills, so when we got back we told her what our favourite thing was.

I got 10 things from under water. Cody

It was fun going under water. I dived under and got some toys. Liam

I like jumping off the mattress to get the toys. Brayden

I liked the dancing because we had fun dancing. Rilla

Yesterday we had our first day at Fundamental Skills.
At the end of the day I asked the children what they liked the most.

Going swimming in the big pool. Liam
I could walk on the bottom of the big pool. Sophie
You had to put your hand on the bucket of balls and push it under the water. The balls popped out and you had to put them in the bucket. Cody
I liked when we bounced the balls really hard to someone else. Max
I liked going in the big pool and I stood up by myself. Rileigh
When I had to bounce the tennis ball and catch it. Lachlan
I liked jumping off the mattress into the pool. Reuben

Today when Jess and Fergus came to visit, we retold the story of "The very hungry caterpillar" using picture and word cards. Then we made our own little books to take home.
At buddy time, some of our buddies helped us to make little caterpillars and we painted little branches. We glued on the caterpillars and some of the leaves we had made last week. Mrs Paterson put them together to make a butterfly tree like the one in our poem.

Red Day Fun on PhotoPeach

Today we tried some of our new reading activities.
We had fun making words with beads and with the playdough.
When Liam and Rilla came for their first school visit, we read a story called "Pop, pop, pop!"
We talked about the steps we needed to follow to make popcorn. We had a special sheet to colour and then we cut it up and put it in the right order. Now we know how to make popcorn. When we had finished we made popcorn with Mrs Paterson and then the best bit... We got to eat it!.
Thank you Mrs Nicholls for the photos.

This morning Max had fun making words with the letter beads. he made the words on the floor and then threaded them onto the pipecleaner. Max is becoming a good writer because he practices lots and lots. Why not see how many words you can make tomorrow morning.
